Ms. Amy @ World Around Us Child Care White Bear Lake

Amy G.

Hi, my name is Amy. I am married and I have a wonderful son.

I was born and raised in White Bear Lake and grew up in a fun filled environment with my three brothers. I have a passion for working with children.

I have gained over 21 years of experience in the past with early childhood programs. When I came through the door at World Around Us and saw all the lovely classrooms, the education going on and the children and teachers so happy I knew right away that it was going to be the perfect fit for me.

I enjoy working here so much. The kids even gave me a nickname: Mimi. I really love that name since it also used to be my childhood nickname.

What does a typical day @ WAU look like for you?

I start my days here by greeting my families and their kids. Then throughout the day we follow our daily creative curriculum. Every day is so much fun! I really enjoy playing, teaching, and of course all the cuddles.

What's the most rewarding part of your job?

I love to see them learn so many new things each and every day. Whether it is learning to build a tower or new hand motions to a song.

What do you miss most about being a child?

I miss the neighborhood friends and basically just getting together and playing outside games like freeze tag or my favorite: kick the can!

What is the nerdiest thing you do in your spare time?

I am not sure if this is nerdy but I can honestly say that despite being with kids all day, I still get super excited everyday to go pick up my son and go home and play more with him. We either go out to the park, play video games or just be superheroes.

5. Art festival or music festival? - I personally prefer a music festival, although I have only gone to two concerts in my life: Cher and T.L.C.
